Northwest to host ‘Frog Prints’ puppet show

The classic fairytale “The Frog Prince” is set to play at Northwest Missouri State University this month – with a twist.

Kansas City’s StoneLion Puppet Theatre will present “The Frog Prints,” a funny and poignant musical, at 6 pm, Monday, October 23, in the Studio Theater at the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts. Free and open to everyone, the show has a 45 minute runtime. It is family friendly.

Prince Rana is a character in this production who has been destroying his world until he encounters Mother Nature. His attitude gets him turned into a frog until he learns his lesson – and pays it forward.

The show features Shawn Patrick Murphy, a Northwest alumnus who earned his bachelor’s degree in theatre performance from the University in 2018. Murphy completed three tours of the National Theatre for Children. He built scenery for six season at the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival. Murphy also worked at The Basement and Breakout KC as a live escape room interactive performer.

The Missouri Arts Council and Department of Fine and Performing Arts, as part of their guest artist series, provide support for this production.
