Hallsville Lions Club hosted the Christmas Parade and Light Up the Park Ceremony, which kicked off the holiday season. Record crowds gathered in Hallsville to witness the event.

The parade started off the events Tuesday with hundreds of floats participating in this year’s event.

Following the parade, residents gathered at the park to witness the light-up of the park ceremony. The lights will be on until December 27th.

Additional events for this year include Santa’s Workshop, which is planned for Dec. 10 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Gold Hall in Hallsville. Santa Claus will visit and allow community members to decorate ornaments, create cookies, build a toy train, or make some decorations.

Beta Sigma Phi will also be hosting a movie night on Dec. 16 at the park, featuring a screening of “The Star.” Admission to the event is one canned good per person and community members are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs.

A Family Night will also be held at the park from 5-7 p.m. on December 17. It includes a free hotdog, soda, hot chocolate, live music, and Santa’s visit.
